Girthie M. Ferguson

July 24, 1933 — January 20, 2008

Asheville - Girthie Mae Hill Ferguson, 74, of 8 Dove Haven Road, died Sunday January 20, 2008 at Blue Ridge Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. A native of Rutherford, County, she had resided in Asheville since 1960. She retired from Swissartex and was formerly employed with A-B Emblem. She was a member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle on Montford Avenue, was an ordained Minister and a former Sunday School Teacher. She was a daughter of the late Gladden and Sarah Beatrice Crain Hill and was also preceded in death by sister, Annie Faye Hill and brothers, Leon Mitchell Hill, Roger D. Hill and Boyd L. Hill. Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn Chrisawn Pruitt of Alexander; sisters, Cleo Teague of Rutherfordton, Jessie L. Whiteside of Asheville and Dorothy H. Gillespie of Etowah; brother, Robert E. Hill of Rutherfordton and grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew and Hannah Pruitt. A funeral service will be held at 6 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Lunsford Rev. Bill Clement officiating. The family will receive friends following services at the funeral home. A second service will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church, Rutherford County with the Rev. Jack Crain and Rev. Roger Lunsford officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
