Gertrude Gasaway

Asheville - Gertrude Bryson Gasaway, 99, of Asheville, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Mountain Ridge Health and Rehab. A native of Franklin, Mrs. Gasaway had resided in Buncombe County since 1975 and was a member of State Street Church of God. She was the daughter of the late John Beulon and Tula Grace Penland Bryson, and the wife of the late Rev. Raymond H. Gasaway, who passed away May 1, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Gasaway. Surviving are her son, Jack Gassaway and wife Marie; daughters: Colleen Tucker, Wanda Gassaway, Carla Whitson and husband Paul, and Tula Cooke and husband Mike; sister, Jessica Wysoloski; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 4 great, great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dale Whitson officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 3:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
