Gertrude Connie Reynolds Young

Asheville - Gertrude Connie Reynolds Young, 80, formerly of 74 Shope Creek Road went home to be with the Lord Friday January 16, at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a member of Swannanoa Valley Independent Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Cleveland and Mary Goins Reynolds and wife of the late Charles Edward Young. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Taylor, and infant son, Charles Theodore Young and a granddaughter, Janet Marie Young. Surviving are her sons, Ralph Young of Asheville, Donald Young of Swannanoa, Lewis Young of Leicester and Rev. Randall Young of Asheville; Daughters, Susan Odom of Fairview, Cindy McElreath of Canton, Gayle Robinson of Leicester, Lois Ramsey of Chesapeake, VA., Charlotte Allen of Swannanoa, Pansy Ragan of Swannanoa and Mary Slaten of Tampa, FL. 33 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Swannanoa Valley Independent Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Lewis O. Bartlett and Randall Young officiating. Burial will be in Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends form 6 to 8:30 P.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The family will gather at 3 P.M. Saturday at the Swannanoa Valley Independant Missionary Baptist Church fellowship hall..
