Asheville – Geraldine Wilde Helms, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at the Asheville Specialty Hospital.
A native of Madison County, she resided in Buncombe County since 1949. She was a daughter of the late Dwight Hobart Wilde and Alice Lilly Bishop Wilde, and the wife of the late Henry Ransom Helms. She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas Barry Helms, grandson, Keith; great-grandson, Kevin; sisters: Katie Morrow, Betty Hollifield, Minnie Morrow, Emagene Helms, Grace Carolyn Helms, Merle Matthews, and Margaret Wooten; brothers: Frank Jackson Wilde, John Wilde, Dwight Hobart “D.H.” Wilde, Jr., and Lester Wilde.
Mrs. Helms was a longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Surviving are her children: Patricia Helms, Charlotte Helms Corn, and Joseph Lyle Helms; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Zane Edmonds officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 till 9 PM on Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
