ASHEVILLE - Geraldine Wimberly Kilpatrick, 86, of White Oak Road in Burnsville, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the WNC Baptist Home. A native of Copperhill, TN, Ms. Kilpatrick had resided most of her life in Buncombe County. She retired from American Enka/BASF after 44 years of service. She was a member of both New Morgan Hill Baptist Church and South Estatoe Baptist Church in Burnsville, and was an active volunteer of the VFW. She was also an avid traveler. Ms. Kilpatrick was the daughter of the late Sam and Ida Wimberly, and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Kilpatrick Hathcock, and seven siblings. Surviving are her son, James Kilpatrick (Pam); son-in-law: Nelson Hathcock; grandchildren: Heather K. Sharp (Sam), Holly Kilpatrick (Ryan Folkestad), Michele Hathcock (Allison Dains), Ted Hathcock, Jr. (Katherine) and Seth Hathcock (Cheryl); great-grandchildren: Kendra Hathcock, Arden Hathcock, Cooper Hathcock, Grayson Sharp, Lauryn Sharp, and Caed Folkestad; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, August 17, 2012 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Recer officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 2:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
