Gerald "Jerry" Johnston Jr.

Fairview - Gerald Wayne Jerry Johnston, JR., 28, of 573 Old Hwy. 74, died unexpectedly Sunday July 9, 2006 at the Medical University Hospital of South Carolina in Charleston. A native of Portsmouth, VA, he had lived in Buncombe County since 1991. He attended Westwood Baptist Church. He was a son of Jerry Johnston, Sr. of Marshall and Frances Johnston of Fairview. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Perry and Louise Clark. Also surviving are his son, Austin Allen Johnston of Black Mountain; brother, Timothy Opie Johnston of Swannanoa; maternal grandparents, Clyde and Dean Sanders of Selma, Alabama and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Baird officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home and following services on Thursday at the Elk Lodge at 232 Haywood Street.
