Weaverville - Gerald C. Parker, 66 of 22 Clover Brook Dr., went to be with his Lord and Savior after a brief illness Sunday March 10, 2002 at St. Josephs Hospital. A native of Madison County, he had lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He was a former supervisor for Shaw Industries, a member of Pine Burr Park Baptist Church and a former deacon at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in GA. He was a son of the late Gordon J. and Clara Condrey Parker and was also preceded in death by a brother, Lonus Parker. Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Dorothy Hickey Parker of the home; son, Mike Parker and wife, Cindy and their daughter Megan all of Fletcher; Step-son, Jim Hickey and wife, Vicki of Weaverville and their daughter, Jodie Metcalf and husband, Jeremy of Marion; step-daughter, Brenda McElrath and husband, David and their children, Jason Ponder and wife Angela, Alex McElarth and wife Mandy, Mandy Cogdill and husband, Brent all of Weaverville; sisters, Betty Trantham and husband, Lane of Spring Creek and Joyce Ramsey and husband, Monroe of Clinton, NC; brother, Jackie Parker and wife Brenda of Fredericksburg, VA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Lovett, Rev. Gary Haynes and Mr. David Moore officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. His family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
