George Franklin Reid

George Franklin Reid, 84, of Arden went to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 20, 2014. He was born on May 20, 1929 to Charley and Mary Alice Dills Reid. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Floyd, Jack, Bobby, and Johnny; and sister, Edith. George was a U.S. Navy Veteran during which time he served on the USS Juneau. He was also a member of VFW Post 891. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Reid; daughters: Janet Bishop of Memphis, TN, Patricia Graves of Candler, and Diane Hipps of Woodfin; sons: David Reid of Clearwater, FL, and Michael Reid of Bethel; and a special nephew, Keith Green of Dallas, TX and Johnson City, TN. Funeral services will be held 3 P.M. Sunday, March 23, 2014 in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. Burial will be held at 12 PM, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
