George Donald "Moto" Coble

George Moto Donald Coble, 76, went to his heavenly home on December 9, 2013 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory after a period of declining health. Born June 6, 1937 in Washington, DC he was the son of the late Robert Wesley and Corinne Sherrill Coble. He graduated from Hickory High School in 1956. He retired from Corning Cable Systems with 41 years of service. He loved family reunions and talking to people, never meeting a stranger. He loved watching western movies. His home church, Northminister Presbyterian Church of Hickory was very special to him. As a young man he was an RA leader for many years. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Lib Wilson Coble of the home; brothers: Kenneth Coble of Hildebran, Henry Coble and his wife Trudy of Candler; a sister, Mary Alice Coble Collins and her husband Peter of Hickory; and by 6 nieces and nephews, 15 great nieces and nephews, and a great great nephew due in February 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, December 12, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville with Pastor Sarah Fouts officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville. The family will receive friends from 5 till 7 PM Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016. or to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
