George C. Cothran

Leicester George Carlton Cothran, 66, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the St. Josephs Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Howard Heywood Cothran, Sr. and Eleanor Eloise Davis Cothran and was also preceded in death by his brother, Howard Heywood Sonny Cothran, Jr. Mr. Cothran retired in 2005 from Dave Steel Company following 40 years of service. He enjoyed camping and fishing at Lake Douglas and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Sue Cothran of the home; children, Tina Lusk and husband Mark of Leicester and Thomas Cothran and wife Amy of Candler; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Miranda Lusk and Olivia Cothran; step grandchild, Taylor Driggers; sisters, Brenda Penland and husband, Larry of Candler and Sharon Wallen of Asheville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Bell UMC Cemetery, Leicester.
