Geneva Blankenship

November 13, 1923 — February 7, 2002

Asheville - Geneva Ballard Spivey Blankenship, 78, of 22 Dry Ferry Road died Thursday February 7, 2002 at the Mt. Area Hospice Solace Center. A native of Shell Creek, Tn. she resided in Buncombe County all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Dewey and Leona Hass Ballard and was also preceded in death by daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Jody Nanney and grandson, Joel Nanney. She attended New Salem Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Jack Charles Blankenship of the home; daughters, Linda Spivey Crawford of Asheville and Tammy Mundy Gudger and husband Curtis of Candler; son, Thomas Roy Spivey of Leicester; step-daughter, Rebecca Simmons of Bent Creek; Brother, Jerry Ballard of Charlotte; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Jack Ward and Roger Kuykendall officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Calvary Episcopal Churchyard in Fletcher. The family will receive friends Friday following services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to: Mt. Area Hospice, P.O.
