Gene Sircey

Mars Hill – Joseph Eugene “Gene” Sircey, 56, passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 14, 2022 at his home.

A native of Buncombe County, Gene worked as an auto mechanic most of his life. He loved cars, motorcycles, or anything with a motor. His love of cars led to him driving race cars for a number of years. But he mostly enjoyed just being around other people, and his greatest joy was making others laugh. Gene will be remembered as a generous and loving son, father, grandfather, brother, companion and friend.

Gene was the son of the late Charles Walker and Helen Burrell Sircey. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Charles Edward Sircey, Allen Wayne Sircey, and an infant brother.

Surviving are his fiancé, Amy Nicole Kinser; children: Brandon Sircey, Dustan Sanders and wife Samantha, Kendal West and husband Noah, Danielle Gunter and Nicklous Gunter; grandchildren: Malachi West, Japheth West, and Faith Eugena Sircey; brother, George Sircey and wife Vicky; sister, Sheila Lindsey; and several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of close friends.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
