Gene Mclaughlin

Asheville Eugene Lee Gene McLaughlin, Sr., 70, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the St Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Jackson County, he was a resident of Buncombe County most of his life. He worked at Kellwood Mfg Co following 20 years of service and retired from Asheville Waste Paper. Mr. McLaughlin was a son of the late Clyde Lee McLaughlin and Ida Lusk McLaughlin and was the husband of Gloria Jean Frady McLaughlin who died August 9, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Gann who died September 17, 2011; grandson, Clyde Gann and brothers, Richard and Sammy McLaughlin. Surviving are his sons, Bo McLaughlin and companion, Michelle Sharpe of Asheville and Phillip McLaughlin of Candler; grandchildren, Chris, Jimmy Lee, Blaine, Kendall and Kyleah; sisters, Pat Metz, Hazel Branch, Carolyn Boone, Shirley Creech and Patsy Rathburn; brothers, J.B. and Dickie McLaughlin and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2015 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Brockwell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the funeral home.
