Asheville – Clarence Eugene “Gene” Hill, 82, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital. A native of Gaffney, SC, he retired from Memorial Mission Hospital following 32 years of service. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the US Navy for 4 years aboard the USS Ranger and previously served in the US Army for 4 years. Mr. Hill was the son of the late James Erwin Hill and Catherine Geneva Bright Hill. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, JoAnn Bryant Hill of the home; son, Daren Hill and wife, Elizabeth Ann; granddaughters, Ashley Ann Hill and Emily Ann Hill; two great grandsons Davaion Paul Bristol, Jr and Kingston James Bristol all of Asheville; sisters, Roberta Jones and Juanita Hill and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday, May 16, 2022, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Ben Heise officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery, with military honors to be conducted by the US Navy. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the funeral home.
