Geary Douglas

August 12, 1952 — October 24, 2023

Geary Douglas, 71, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the Sapphire Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Brevard.

A native of Los Angeles, California, Geary was a son of the late Robert and Ruby Douglas. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Jerome Douglas.

Geary obtained a culinary degree from Los Angeles Technical College and worked as a skilled chef for many years. He also attended North Ridge College in California and graduated first in his class from AB Tech in 2017. Geary was a man of distinction who loved his family, especially his children, deeply. He showed his love to his children through providing opportunities to them by teaching them to be self-reliant with many skills, including cooking, gardening, sewing, and many others. He was the embodiment of life and love, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Brendan Schuyler Douglas and companion Martha Kelly Hartmann, and Cydney Alexandra Douglas and companion Anthony Weathersbee; mother of his children, Jan Olson Douglas; brothers: Ronald Douglas, Steven Douglas, Gregory Douglas, Tony Douglas, and Robert Douglas; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A private service to celebrate Geary’s life will be held at a future date.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to FourSeasons Hospice, Sapphire Ridge Health and Rehab, and the staff of Carolina Pines for their exceptional care and support given to Geary and his family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1778, Asheville, NC 28802.
