Gay Robinson

Asheville - Gay Derl Robinson, 72, of Asheville, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at his home. A native of Madison County, Mr. Robinson had resided in Buncombe County for most of his life. He retired from Tyco, and was an avid fisherman. Mr. Robinson was the son of the late James Edgar and Queen Elizabeth Waldrup Robinson. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Carl and Guy Jack Robinson. Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Naomi Miller Robinson; daughters: Donna Austin and June Goosetree; step-son, Gregg Roland and wife Lisa; grandchildren: Shane, Jessica, Kyle and Eric; step-grandchildren: Gregg Roland, II and Jennifer Roland; great-grandchild: Abigail Rose; step-great-grandchild: Gregg Roland, III; sisters: Joyce Rector and Ann Ricker; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Chaplain Robert Teague officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
