Gavin Chittick

Asheville - Gavin Chittick, 76, of 106 Appalachian Way, died Monday, March 24, 2003 at Mission St. Josephs Health System. He was a resident of Asheville for 76 years and retired in 1988 from Sayles Finishing Plant after 40 years of service. Mr. Chittick was the son of the late William Turner Orr Chittick and Elizabeth Wylie Chittick and was the husband of the late Elizabeth Betty Altoona Chittick who died in 1987. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, George William Billy Chittick, Jr. and a step daughter, Cathy M. Kuykendall. Surviving are his son, George William Chittick of Waynesboro, KY; daughter, April Jean Jeannie Chittick of Charlotte; step-son, Rev. Len Morgan of East Moline, IL; sister, Betty Jean Roberts of Arden; grandchildren, Phillip Kuykendall, John Kuykendall, Stacey Morgan, and Joe Kuykendall; caregiver and friend, Mike Ellis of the home. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Len Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
