Gail Mcpeters Jones

Gail Louise McPeters Jones, 78, born on May 17, 1944, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at her residence while surrounded by family.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Gail was a daughter of the late Gay Marvin McPeters and Juanita Bailey McPeters. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Owens and nephew, Jonathan Godleski.

Gail worked for Southern Bell and in banking with First Union Bank and First Citizen Bank, but her life’s work was always focused around providing a warm and loving home for her family. She had a passion for playing the piano and began playing at the young age of 14 and continued to play throughout her life. Gail was a lifetime member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where she served as the church pianist.

Gail is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jerry McKinley Jones; children: Barry L. Jones, Gregory N. Jones and wife Tammi, and Tara Clark and husband Travis; grandchildren: Holly Jones (Chandler Seyk), Triston Jones (Alexis Rodriguez), Emileigh Jones (Levi Ledford), Kelcey Johnson (Heath), Chase Jones (Megan), Drew Wright (Rachel), Dawson Jones, Bailey Clark, and Jayda King (Aaron); great-grandchildren: Nora Jones, Archer Johnson, Easton Johnson, Savannah Johnson, and Joseph Seyk; nephews: Joel Godleski, and Nathan Godleski; and many extended family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Gail’s life will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 1008 Newfound Rd, Leicester, NC 28748, with Pastors Bobby Smith, Jackie Collins, and Bill Clark officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:30 till 3:30 PM at the church.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Navy Seabees and Roger McPeters.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Fourseasons Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Gail and all of her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gail’s memory to the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1008 Newfound Rd, Leicester, NC 28748.
