Furman Woodrow Mashburn

Candler - Furman Woodrow Mashburn, 77, of 461 Case Cove Road died Friday at the home of his daughter, Brenda Mashburn following a period of declining health. A native of Franklin, N.C. he had resided in Buncombe County most of life and retired in 1991 from Robinson Brother Construction Company after 30 years of service. He was a member of Deaverview Evangelist Tabernacle and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Mashburn is a son of the late Lawrence Grady Mashburn and Rosie Jane Henry Mashburn and husband of Frances Virginia Peek Mashburn who died December 19, 2003. He also was preceded in death by his daughter, Gwenda Jones; brother, Howard Mashburn; and sister, Gertrude Mashburn. Surviving are his daughters, Brenda Mashburn of Candler and Sandra Honeycutt of Leicester; son, Leon Mashburn of Marshall; sisters, Mildred Vaughn of Highlands, Nina Woods of Franklin, Rosalee Woods of Canyonville, Oregon, Alice Underwood of Cashiers; brothers, David, Bruce, and Dayton Mashburn all of Franklin; 9 grandchildren including Allan Mashburn withwhom he and his wife raised; 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Homer Moore and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allan Mashburn, Tommy Brooks, Ray Austin, Johnny Honeycutt, John Edwards, and Lloyd Mashburn. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of Brenda Mashburn, 35 Shuler Road, Candler
