Fred Towe

Candler - William Fred Towe, 93, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the WNC Baptist Home. A native of Haywood County. He had worked at Champion Paper Company and retired from American Enka Corporation and was a member of Candler Church of God. Mr. Towe was the son of the late Vernon Fred and Ethel Hendrix Towe. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Hill Towe and sisters, Annabelle, Nell, Dorothy and Helen. Surviving are his daughter, Joan Tourner of Candler; sons, Ronald Towe of Fletcher, Donald Towe of Spartanburg, SC, Bill Towe of Simpsonville, SC and Roger Towe of Deer Park, TX; sisters, Lucille Buchanan and Betty Burrell both of Canton and Aileen Hicks of Charlotte; brothers, Henry and James Towe both of Candler, Frank Towe of Lakeland, FL and Bill Towe of Searcy, AR.; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Towe officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1 to 2 P.M. at the funeral home.
