Fred Henry Chasteen Sr.

Weaverville - Fred Henry Chasteen, Sr., 55, of 26 North Hills Rd. died Thursday, September 20, 2001 at Memorial Mission Hospital. He was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He was employed by R.L. Coleman and Company at Edgewood Apts. for about 15 years He was a very loving and devoted son, husband, dad, granddad, and brother. He was the son of Grace W. Chasteen of Oteen and the late Joe Hyman Chasteen. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Brenda B. Chasteen of the home; sons, Marion Thomas (Chasteen) of Asheville and Fred Chasteen, Jr. and wife Teresa of Weaverville; daughters, Tracy Higgins and husband Raymond of Burnsville, and Laura Perry of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Maria Boone, Raymond Higgins, Jr., Monica Jones, Christal Cannon, Mandy Thomas, Jonathan Owenby, Dustin Chasteen, Michelle Chasteen, and Dakota Chasteen; 4 sisters and 5 brothers. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday at the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Raymond McHone officiating. Burial will be in Elk Mtn. Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
