Frankie Orr

ASHEVILLE Franklin Frankie D. Orr, Jr., 49, went to be with his Lord Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was active in the West Asheville Little League and was one of two, along with Cal Ripkin, Jr., selected to play on the All-Star Team. Frankie was a 1978 graduate of Asheville High School and had a lifelong passion for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. He was loved by all of his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Frankie was the son of Frank D. Orr, Sr. and Shirley M. Orr of Asheville. Surviving in addition to his parents are his sister, Sharon Orr Bates & husband Roger of Asheville; his special niece, Miranda Shipman of Asheville and his companion, Rhonda Jean Hicks of Asheville. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Niles and Rev. Sam McLamb officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. For those that wish, memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.
