Dayton, TN – Frank Leon DeArmond, 78, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. A native of Dayton, OH, Mr. DeArmond lived in Sidney, OH before moving to North Carolina in 1986, and then to Dayton, TN in 2021. He had been involved in the insurance industry since 1969, culminating in the foundation of The Business Planning Group in Charlotte, NC and later in Western NC. He was a member of the Rotary Club and United Way while residing in Sidney. In his free time, Mr. DeArmond was an avid golfer and gardener, growing vegetables for the simple enjoyment of giving them away to family, friends, and neighbors. He spent countless hours teaching youth about gardening. As a golfer, he mentored young adults as a high school golfing coach. His faith in Christ was at the center of his life, leading him to assist in the opening of several churches. Mr. DeArmond will be remembered as a kind, generous, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Mr. DeArmond was the son of the late Denby Dempsey and Ethel Marie Metzger DeArmond. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Carol Jacob. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Trudy Rogers DeArmond, whom he married on June 3, 1967, and his daughter, Angela Frye. He was the proud grandfather and father figure for Jake and Kati Frye and brother to Walt DeArmond and wife Carole. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a host of close friends. A Celebration of Mr. DeArmond’s Life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Vines & Branches Fellowship Church, 321 Broadway St., Dayton, TN 37321, with Dr. Drew Randle officiating. The family will receive friends and have a time of fellowship following the celebration. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. DeArmond’s name may be made to Blazing Hope Ranch, PO Box 164, Dayton, TN 37321, or at www.blazinghope.org. Anders-Rice Funeral Home of Asheville, NC is assisting Mr. DeArmond’s family with his arrangements.
