ASHEVILLE - Frank J. Greene, 84, of the Oakley Community went to be with his heavenly Father, his wife, Cora Belle and a host of family and loved ones who have waited to welcome him home. He passed on April 15, 2011, exactly one month shy of his 85th birthday. Frank was the son of the late Julius D. and Minnie R. Greene of the Jacks Creek Community of Burnsville. He is also preceded in death by his 3 sisters, Margaret McSwain, Pat Hollar and Barbara Etta Little; brother, J.D.; son-in-law, John C. Price and great grandchild, Jax Dotson. Frank was always known for his kindness, humor, love and devout friendship. He kept his wonderful sense of humor till the very last which lifted the family in such a difficult time. Frank was a WW II Navy Veteran, serving in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific Theatres. He graduated from Asheville Farm School, which is now Warren Wilson College. His first job was as a boys supervisor at the Morganton School for the Deaf. Frank spent his career with CP & L with more than 40 years of service. He was also very active in the community with his work with the American Red Cross. He loved his church and church family of the Oakley UMC. He is survived by his 5 children, Sandra Dotson (Jerry) of Asheville, Nancy Price of Fletcher, Linda Marshall (Clifford) of Asheville, David Greene (Pattie) of Hendersonville and Susan Johnson (James) of Spruce Pine. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, loving sisters in law, Valerie Talmadge of San Francisco and Mildred Davis of Johnson City, TN; brother-in-law, Melvin Little of Statesville and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank Franks loving caregivers; Brenda Hensley and her daughter, Mandy Banks whose extreme love and tender care eased his pain and gave comfort to the entire family. It was obvious they loved him as much as he loved them and they certainly have the familys never ending love and gratitude. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Monday at Oakley UMC with Revs Shelley Webb, Stan Dotson and Kelly Dotson officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
