Frances Coates

Asheville Mary Frances Bryan Coates, 90, formerly of 182 Sardis Road passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 at Aston Park Health Care. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She retired from Sarah Scott Furniture Manufacturing Company and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ruth S.S. Class. Mrs. Coates was the daughter of the late Homer J. Bryan and Lonnie West Bryan and wife O.Q. Coates who died February 28, 1998. She was also preceded in death by son-in-law, James E. Norvell and brother, Troy Jerome Bryan. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara C. Norvell of Candler; son, Harry L. Coates and wife Beatrice P. of Asheville; grandchildren, Sherrill Glenn Coates and wife Monica, James E. Norvell, Jr., Ricky L. Coates and wife, Heidi; great grandchildren, Robert James Norvell and Jessica, Dallas, MacKenzie and Lauren Coates. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 A.M. Tuesday prior to services at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
