Floyd Gaddy

December 23, 1919 — February 1, 2013

Asheville Floyd Weldon Gaddy, 93, of 294 Westwood Place passed away Friday, February 1, 2013. Mr. Gaddy was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He served in the Three Cs for two years prior to entering the US Army during World War II. Mr. Gaddy retired in 1989 from Westburne Supply Co. following 10 years of service. Mr. Gaddy was formerly employed with Crane Company for 24 years and Sayles Biltmore Bleacheries for 14 years. He was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Ella Baldwin Gaddy and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Gaddy Coddington who died in 1983. Surviving are his wife, Bertha Jones Mimmaw Gaddy of the home; grandsons: James Marion Coddington, Jr. and wife Leigh Ann, Jeffrey Mark Coddington and wife Debbie, and Joseph Michael Coddington and wife Jennifer Summerell; great grandchildren: Zachary Coddington, Taylor Coddington, Alleigh Hill, Andy Coddington, Callie Coddington, and Jaxen Coddington. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 4, 2013 with Rev. Carson Moseley officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12:30 1:45 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the WNC Down Syndrome Alliance, PO Box 421, Weaverville, NC 28787.
