SARASOTA, FL - FLOYD B. PARROTT, 87, OF SARASOTA, FL, FORMERLY OF ASHEVILLE, DIED JUNE 14, 2001 AT DOCTORS HOSPITAL IN SARASOTA. A NATIVE OF CENTRALIA, WA, HE HAD RESIDED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NC FROM 1939 TO 1970 BEFORE MOVING TO SARASOTA. MR. PARROTT WAS THE FORMER OWNER/OPERATOR OF PARROTT TREE SERVICE OF ASHEVILLE. HE SERVED AS A BUNCOMBE COUNTY DEPUTY SHERIFF FOR 8 YEARS AND WAS A MEMBER OF THE ASHEVILLE WESLEYAN CHURCH. A VETERAN OF WW II SERVING IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC, HE WAS A SGT. IN THE MARINE CORPS AND HE LATER TRANSFERRED TO THE NAVY SEABEES WHERE HE SERVED AS A CHIEF PETTY OFFICER. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE GEORGE AND LEOMA LOVINGOOD PARROTT AND WAS THE HUSBAND OF THE LATE FRANCES PLEMMONS PARROTT, MACIE REESE PARROTT, AND EDITH RIDDLE PARROTT. HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A SISTER, IRENE SIMMMONS, A BROTHER, HARLEY GUNTER, AND HIS STEP-FATHER WHO RAISED HIM, W.H. GUNTER. SURVIVING ARE HIS DAUGHTERS, LINDA P. ALLEN OF LEICESTER, AND VIRGINIA PARROTT OF SARASOTA; SONS, GARY PARROTT OF HOLT, MI, AND SONNY PARROTT OF ASHEVILLE; GRANDCHILDREN, NATHAN PARROTT OF SYLVA, AARON PARROTT AND BETH PARROTT BOTH OF ASHEVILLE, SEVERAL NIECES AND NEPHEWS SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 12 NOON TUESDAY IN THE CHAPEL OF THE WESTERN CAROLINA STATE VETERANS CEMETERY WITH CHAPLAIN RICHARD ROCKWELL OFFICIATING. MILITARY GRAVESIDE RITES WILL BE CONDUCTED BY THE BUNCOMBE COUNTY VETERANS COUNCIL/VOLUNTEER MEMORIAL TEAM. MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO THE ASHEVILLE WESLEYAN CHURCH, 32 RICHMOND AVE., ASHEVILLE, NC 28806. ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF THE ARRANGEMENTS.
