Floyd A. "Bud" Biddix

Fletcher Floyd Adam Bud Biddix, 85, of 336 Yellowstone Drive died Sunday, June 8, 2008. A native and resident of Buncombe County most of life, he had resided in Henderson County since 1990. Mr. Biddix was formerly Owner & Operator of The Biltmore Woodworking Company in Black Mountain, was a member of Gashes Creek Baptist Church in Asheville and along with his wife, they were founders of The Great Outdoors Interdenominational Church in Titusville, FL. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a tank commander in the first Armoured Division, serving in the European Theatre. He was a three time recipient of the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster and received the Bronze Star. He was a son of the late Floyd Adam Biddix, Sr. and Minnie Matthews Biddix, and also was preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine Biddix and sister, Gladys Goff. Surviving are his wife, Betty Sales Biddix of the home; son, Harold Butch Biddix and wife, Shelia of Fletcher; daughter, Marian Putnam of Black Mountain, two granddaughters & four great-grandchildren and brother, Charles Biddix of Asheville. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at Gashes Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Sprouse and Rev. Ed Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 to 10:45 AM Saturday at the church. Military honors will be conducted by the N.C. National Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Gashes Creek Baptist Church Youth Fund, 308 Gashes Creek Road, Asheville, N.C. 28803. Anders-Rice Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
