Asheville Faye Bradley Queen, 81, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Park Ridge Hospital. A native of Swain County, she had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was formerly employed with Buster Brown and Vanderbilt Shirt Mfg Company as a seamstress, was former President of the Emma Elementary PTA, was Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and was a member of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians. Mrs. Queen was a daughter of the late General Washington Bradley and Julia Emma McCoy Bradley and wife of CSM Thomas Wesley Queen who died December 30, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, David Bradley and Lee Bradley and sister, Bennett Greene. Surviving are her son, Dr. Steven Wesley Queen and partner Lester Laminack of Sylva and daughter, Melissa Jane Hughes and friend Wendy Taylor; sisters, Gertrude Fann of Johnson City, TN and Vivian McCollough of Cherokee; brother, Jack Bradley of Cherokee; several nieces and nephews and special companion, her dog Lola. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, June 30, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Patty Curtis, Rector of St. Johns Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Field Cemetery in Dillsboro. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Friday at the funeral home.
