ASHEVILLE - FASSIE VERNON WORLEY, 89, OF 288 MERRILLS COVE ROAD DIED TUESDAY MAY 8, 2001 AT MEMORIAL MISSION HOSPITAL. A NATIVE OF MADISON COUNTY, HE HAD LIVED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY FOR THE PAST 51 YEARS. HE WAS A MEMBER AND FORMER DEACON AT CHAPEL HILL BAPTIST CHURCH FOR MANY YEARS. HE WAS A DEVOTED AND LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER, AND GRANDFATHER. HE WAS A SON OF THE LATE FRED AND REBECCA COOPER WORLEY AND WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A DAUGHTER, ESTIE RICE; SISTERS, GLIFTIE ROBERTS,SELMA RUTLEDGE, AND ELVA DAVIS AND BROTHERS, WILLARD AND CHAN WORLEY. SURVIVING ARE HIS WIFE OF 67 YEARS, CUMI ROBERTS WORLEY OF THE HOME; DAUGHTER, ALTHEA AND HUSBAND JONATHAN HOWELL ROGERS OF ASHEVILLE; SISTERS, ATTIE FORTNER OF FAIRVIEW AND ABBIE GLASCO OF NEW HAMPSHIRE; GRANDCHILDREN, LISA JONES, RITA GIBSON, RICKY RICE, AND PATRICIA BATES AND 6 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 A.M. FRIDAY AT ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME WITH THE REV. CECIL ROBINSON OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN SHEPHERD MEMORIAL PARK. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS 7 TO 8:30 P.M. THURSDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
