Everett Tate

Asheville - Everett Britt Tate, 83, of 3402 St. Augustine Place, died Wednesday May 15, 2002 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center after a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a member and former Deacon at Riverside Baptist Church. Mr. Tate was a Life Member of NIchols West Asheville Masonic Lodge #650 AF & AM with a 50 Year Pin. He was a son of the late David L. and Allie G. Tate and was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Michael Tate. Surviving are his wife, Gennell Brooks Tate of the home; son, Everett B. Tate, Jr. of Waxhaw; grandson, Buddy Tate of Easley, S.C.; granddaughters, Petie Tate of Hickory and Nancy Tate of Waxhaw and brother, Col. David A. Tate of Louisville, Ky. Masonic Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by members of Nichols West Asheville Lodge #650 AF & AM. The lodge will open at 10:00 A.M. Saturday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 P.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
