Evelyn "Nana" Ashby

Candler Evelyn Elizabeth Nana Ashby, 96, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Care Partners Hospice Solace Center. A native of Huntington, NY, Mrs. Ashby had resided in Buncombe County for over 15 years. She had retired from Allstate Insurance as a secretary, and was a dedicated member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She was a one of a kind lady that loved her family and friends dearly, and will be remembered as a wonderful Catholic Christian woman. Mrs. Ashby was the daughter of the late Henry and Genevieve Fedden Euler, and the wife of the late John Ashby. She was also preceded in death by her sons: John Ashby and James Patrick Dolan, Jr.; and sister, Gloria Vacchio. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Dolan; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; five great, great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Tatem; brother, Henry Euler; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, February 3, 2019 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting Mrs. Ashbys family.
