Evelyn (Ebby) Manning

Asheville - Evelyn Maxine (Ebby) Manning, 78, of Asheville, passed away Saturday, 9/10/11, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. Ms. Manning was born April 8, 1933 in Dandridge TN, to the late James Lefford and Edith Estella Lewis Manning. She retired from the Department of Transportation in Washington, DC, in 1988, and was a member of Biltmore United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Marjorie Hallas; and brothers: John Robert (Bob) Manning and his wife Julia, and Earl Wayne (Bud) Manning. Surviving are her sisters: Wanda Grogan Moore of Waynesville, Mary Manning Biddix (Bruce) of Asheville, and Susan Marie Manning (Bud Fox) of Weaverville; brothers: Thomas A. (Tom) Manning (Yvonne) of Huntersville, NC, Fred R. Manning (Jean) of Old Fort, James L. (Jim) Manning, Jr. (Judy) of Advance, NC, and David M. Manning (Teressa) of Hendersonville; many loving nieces and nephews, and her beloved pet, Brixon. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Sprinkle and Don Davis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will be held by the family at Hills Union Methodist Church Cemetery in Dandridge, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building 1, Asheville, NC 28801, or to the Asheville Humane Society, 14 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville, NC 28806.
