Evelyn Boone

Evelyn Carlyle Boone, 92, of Asheville, passed away peacefully, in the early morning of Jan 1st, 2024. She was born as the middle child on September 26, 1931, in Mars Hill, NC, to the late Boyce Carlyle Boone and Azile Whisnant Boone.

Evelyn was a resident of Buncombe County and a graduate of Lee Edwards High School. She was employed by the State of NC in Buncombe County’s court system as the Clerk of Superior Courts for many years until her retirement in 1987.

Evelyn is survived by her sisters: Jean B Johnson of Asheville, and Sarah B McGinnis of Asheville; nephew, Timothy McGinnis; niece, Tammy Gilbert; and many extended family members.

Evelyn always had a smile on her face, showed kindness to everyone and dearly loved her family. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was supported and encouraged to use her God given talents. In her earlier days she loved cooking, gardening, painting, knitting, crocheting and reading. As time passed her heart was filled with joy for the simpler things in life. She loved watching nature and was thrilled when she sighted a bear or deer which soon became the muse of her next painting.

In her memory, remember to show God’s grace and love to everyone. She will always live within the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A private graveside celebration will be held in the mountains of Mars Hill at 3 PM on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, at the Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rendell Hipps officiating.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 till 2 PM at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses care of Anders Rice Funeral Home, 1428 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28806 or to Calvary Baptist Church, Asheville NC.
