Eveleyn Woody Wheeler

Swannanoa - Evelyn Woody Wheeler, 76, of 183 Mockingbird Road, died Sunday September 16, 2001 at her residence following a long illness. A native of Haywood County. She had resided in Buncombe County most of her life and was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who was loved by all. She was a member of Grace Free Will Baptist Church - Old US #70 Hwy. Mrs. Wheeler was the daughter of the late Floyd and Maggie Mae Singleton Woody and wife of Ross Cornelius Wheeler who died February 19, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Junior Woody and sisters, Alice Trull, Nina Lee Woody and Blanche Gillette. Surviving are her daughters, Cleta Sherrill of Landrum, SC, Geneva King, Margaret Orr and Retha Banks all of Swannanoa; sons, McKinley Wheeler of Black Mountain, Troy Wheeler, Donald Gillette, Coye Wheeler and Tony Wheeler all of Swannanoa; sisters, Ethel Parton and Lucy Mae Edwards both of Waynesville; brothers, Alonzo Woody of Clyde and James Woody of Melton, PA.; 24 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Russell Wheeler, Raymond Shell and Norris Wright officiating. Burial will be at Skyview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence.
