Eva Gardner Payne

Asheville Eva Tina Gardner Payne, 84, of 455 Victoria Road died Monday at Magnolia Health Care Center. A native of Madison County. She had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. Mrs. Payne was the daughter of the late Charlie and Tina Alvira Anders Gardner and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Penley. Surviving are her son James Richard Payne and wife, Lisa of Asheville; daughters, Patricia Gail Payne of Burnsville and Jean Payne of Flat Rock; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Gardner-Gillis Family Cemetery, Madison County. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting her family.
