Asheville - Ethel Graves, 63, a lifelong resident of Asheville, went to be with her late husband J.C. Graves, Sr., her late father, Gordon and Leola Johnson, and her late brothers and sister: Paul, Floyd, Fred, Ernest, and Melvin Johnson, and Mary Alice Snyder; on Sunday, January 28, 2007. Surviving are her children: Jackie Graves Ray of Oteen, Jimmy Graves and wife Wanda of Whittier, Susan Graves and her son James Burton Graves, of the home, and JC Graves and fianc Patricia Simmons of Candler; grandchildren: Allison Graves of Oteen, Amanda Jamie, James and Adrienne of Sylva, and Kimberly Graves of Washington; step-grandchildren: Steven & Levi, and Kevin, Billy and Haylie; great-grandchildren: Autumn Graves of Oteen, and Tanner Bryson of Whittier; brother, Clarence Johnson and wife Joyce of Fletcher; and lifelong friend, Peggy Rice of Leicester. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joel Raby officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Lanning-Pittillo Cemetery in Fruitland. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
