Ethel Hughey Hodgens

Asheville - Ethel Hughey Hodgens, 96, formerly of 5 Rich St. died Friday, December 7, 2001 at the Oaks at Sweeten Creek following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was the former co-owner and operator along with her husband of Hodgens Floor Covering Company. Mrs. Hodgens was the daughter of the late Arthur Lee and Rosalie Self Hughey and was the wife of Fred J. Hodgens who died in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her 3 sons, Bob Johnson, Frank Hyder, Jr. and Charles Johnson all formerly of Asheville and daughter, Helen H. Greer of Ft. Worth, Tx. Surviving are her daughter, Ruth H. Mashburn of Asheville; sister, Dorothy Baughman of Black Mtn.; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Fred C. Werhan officiating. The family will be at the home of the daughter, Ruth H.
