Ormond Beach, FL - Ernest W. Burleson, 83, of Ormond Beach, FL passed from this life on June 22, 2009 and now resides with his heavenly father. Ernest was born on March 31, 1926, in Avery County, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Victoria Love Burleson; two brothers, Edward and Everett; and two sons Ernest Waitsell Jr. and Gregory Lane Burleson. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Lee Carpenter Burleson; 3 children, Linda Mobley (Frank) of Ormond Beach, Gary Allen Burleson and Leta Darlene Gosnell of Marion, North Carolina and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ernest and Ruth were married in 1948 and lived in Asheville, NC over 50 years. He was a supervisor for a local tire recap shop in Asheville before retiring to Florida to enjoy fishing and gardening. Ernest was a WWII Veteran, honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of Cedar Hill Free Will Baptist Church of Asheville for over 56 years and served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and trustee for many years. Ernest will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him as a good Christian man who loved God, his family, his church and his country. The family will recieve friends at 10:00 AM and Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Fish and Rev. Howard Messer officiating, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka. Volusia Memorial of Ormond Beach, Florida and Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center will be assisting the family.
