Ernest Ruble "Ernie" Gowan

Arden – Ernest Ruble “Ernie” Gowan, 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital. A native of Hot Springs, he had resided in Buncombe County since 1977 and retired in 1999 from Volvo Construction following 21 years of service. He was a Vietnam War veteran of 20 years in the US Air Force and loved old cars. Mr. Gowan was the son of the late Ervin Edward Gowan and Enice Kathleen Etherton Gowan. Surviving are his wife whom he married September 1, 1962, Norma Jean Travis Gowan of the home; daughter, Rebecca G. Doty (Tony) of Arden and grandson, Joshua D. Pressley of Herndon, VA. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, March 5, 2022 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Tim Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:15 PM Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to: Blue Ridge Honor Flight, 423 N.
