Emily D. Cody

Fletcher – Emily D. Cody, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the CarePartners Solace Center.

Born in Haywood County in 1936, she was a longtime resident of Henderson County. She was the daughter of the late Samuel C. Devlin and Vonnie Mason Devlin, and the wife of the late Mark A. Cody. She was also preceded in death by her son, Mark Auldin Cody, Jr.; sisters: Frances D. Mason, Betty D Reynolds, Jeannette Owenby, Geneva Garret, and Hilda Henderson; and brothers: Charles Devlin, Donald Devlin, Ernest E. Devlin, J.W. “Bill” Devlin, Oren McArthur, and Ralph H. Devlin.

Mrs. Cody was a longtime member of Fletcher First Baptist Church. She retired from Nypro as a Quality Assurance Inspector on January 4, 2002.

Surviving are her daughter, Yvonne C. Hechler and husband Jerry H. Hechler, Sr. of Hamlet, NC; daughter-in-law, Judy Buckner Cody of Fletcher; grandchildren: Camile Warren and husband Jonathan of Clayton, NC, Carolyn Rives and husband Robbie of Mt. Airy, NC, Jerry H. Hechler, II of Cheraw, SC; great-grandchildren: Mason Rollins, Ryleigh Shay Hechler, Camryn Hechler, Cody Warren, Caiden Warren, Christian Warren, and Beverly Rives; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, January 8, 2024, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Waldroup officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12 till 1 PM on Monday at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of CarePartners Solace Center for their exceptional care and support given to Mrs. Cody and her family.
