ASHEVILLE - ELVERT MARION ROBERTS, SR., 76, OF 11 BRICKYARD PLACE DIED SATURDAY, MARCH 10, 2001 AT MEMORIAL MISSION HOSPITAL FOLLOWING A LONG ILLNESS. A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF BUNCOMBE COUNTY, HE RETIRED IN 1983 FROM THE ASHEVILLE V.A. MEDICAL CENTER AFTER 38 YEARS OF SERVICE AS A NURSES AIDE. MR. ROBERTS ATTENDED LOCUST GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH, WAS A VETERAN OF WORLD WAR II AND KOREAN WAR SERVING IN THE U.S. MARINE CORPS. HE WAS AN AVID OUTDOORSMAN AND LOVED TO HUNT AND FISH. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE GUY AND ALMA EMBLER ROBERTS AND WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS BROTHERS, RALPH, HERMAN, MELVIN AND CLAUDE ROBERTS. SURVIVING ARE HIS WIFE, GENEVA EVELEEN GOSNELL ROBERTS OF THE HOME; DAUGHTERS, DEBRA KAY ROBERTS OF ASHEVILLE AND LINDA ROBERTS BRISSON OF FAIRVIEW; SONS, ELVERT MARION ROBERTS, JR. OF ASHEVILLE AND BRO. PAUL DECARLOS ROBERTS OF FAIRVIEW; GRANDCHILDREN, THADDEUS ROBERTS, MATTHEW ROBERTS, JENNIFER ROBERTS AND BRITTNEY ROBERTS; SISTERS, JUANITA SPROUSE PRESTWOOD, HELEN COFFEY AND INEZ ROBERTS ALL OF ASHEVILLE AND ETHEL KING OF TEXAS. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD 11 A.M. WEDNESDAY IN THE CHAPEL OF THE ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME WITH THE REV. JOE HONEYCUTT OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN WEST MEMORIAL PARK WITH MILITARY GRAVESIDE RITES CONDUCTED BY THE BUNCOMBE COUNTY VETERANS COUNCIL MEMORIAL TEAM. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS 7 TO 9 P.M.
