Elton B. Wright

Asheville - Elton Sanford Bowers Wright, 82, of 33 Rocky Ridge Road went to be with her Lord Sunday, March 10, 2002 at the WNC Baptist Home following a period of declining health. A native of Hartwell, Georgia. She had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. Mrs. Wright retired in 1985 from the Owen Manufacturing Company and was a member of Erwin Hills Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Delton Sanford Bowers and Arlie Scott Bowers and was also preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Autumn Elisabeth Wright. Surviving are her husband, Claude Calvert Wright, Sr. of the home; daughter, Linda Wright Culbertson of Leicester; sons, Harold Dean Wright, Sr. and wife, Betty of Candler and Claude C. Dickie Wright, Jr. of Asheville; sisters, Lois Davis and Jewell Randall both of Asheville, Mary Lou Rakestraw and Mildred Earnhardt both of Greensboro and Sara Jefferies of Gastonia; brother, A.G. Bowers of McCleansville; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Erwin Hills Baptist Church with the Revs Jim Whitted, Marty Connor and Brian Wright officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Harold Wright, Jr., Mike Culbertson, Randy Davis, Jack Blazer, Bill Jefferies, Danny Randall, Bobby Daves and Paul Wright. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Erwin Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 6903, Asheville, N.C. 28816. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
