Eloise "Mama Bill" Ferguson

Leicester - Eloise Mattie Mama Bill Swann Ferguson, 95, of 187 Martin Branch Rd. died Monday, February 4, 2002 at her residence. A resident of Madison County most of her life before moving to Buncombe County in the mid 1970s. She was member of Laurel Fork Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Ferguson was the daughter of the late Howell Franklin and Mary Amadell Roberson Swann and was the wife of the late Oliver Wendell Ferguson who died in 1983. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Alma Lee Snelson formerly of Leicester, infant children, Betty Jean Ferguson and Oliver Junior Ferguson and 8 brothers and sisters. Surviving are her son-in-law, J.B. Snelson of Leicester; granddaughter, Lynne Dorsey and husband Mark of Leicester; grandson, Brad Snelson and Wife Melanie of Asheville; great grandchildren, Chesney, Will, and Savannah; sister, Mabel Burke of Orange, VA; special friends, Selwyn Wilson and Edna Snelson. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Thursday at Laurel Fork Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Phillips and Jon Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in Rectors Chapel Cemetery, Marshall. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Thursday at the church. At other times they will be at their residences.
