Elizabeth Thomas

Elizabeth Thomas, 78, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011. Mrs. Thomas was a native of Buncombe County and was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Anna Ledford Rhew. She was preceded in death by her son Thomas C. Garren and sister, Frances Harris. She retired from the U. S. Forest Service and was an U. S. Air Force veteran. She was a member of Biltmore Holiness Temple for 38 years where she was a Sunday School Teacher. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Thomas, Jr, daughters, Sherry G. Lindsey and husband Steve, Pamela G. Gentile and husband, Kim, sons, Robert and David Garren, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, brothers, Sonny, Bobby, Dale and Pat Rhew and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Thursday, March 31 Biltmore Church of God with the Rev. Dale Whitson and Rev. Carl Bishop officiating. Music will be provided by Millie Owenby and Marlene Ashton. Burial will follow at W.N C. State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mt. With military honors conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
