Eleanor Buckner

Asheville - Eleanor Caroline Accordino Buckner, 81, passed away Monday, August 7, 2006 at her residence following a period of declining health. A native of Long Island, NY, Eleanor had resided in Buncombe County for the past 60 years. She had retired from Square D Corp. and attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine Zoley Accordino, and the widow of Jennings Coy Buckner, who passed away in 1960. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dot OBrien. Surviving are her son: Don Buckner and wife Debbie of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Janice Crowder and husband Eddie of Asheville; Grandchildren: Billy and Christi Buckner; sister, Grace Weiber and husband George; two brothers: Thomas Accordino and wife Elizabeth and Frank Accordino and wife Sandy; brother-in-law, Kenneth Buckner and wife Mary Helen; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Father Morris Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
