Eileen Farmer

Woodfin Eileen Yvonne Farmer, 82, of Woodfin, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Emerald Ridge Rehab and Care Center. A native of Ft. Collins, CO, Mrs. Farmer had resided in Buncombe County for 45 years, and had lived in Colorado and Wyoming before returning to Asheville in 2009. She was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church, and a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Ft. Collins as well as North Cheyenne Baptist Church in Cheyenne, WY. Mrs. Farmer was the daughter of the late William Horace and Leota Blythe Hemphill Ashby, and the wife of George Leonard Farmer, Jr., who passed away in April, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Ashby. Surviving are her daughter, Yvonne Elizabeth Proffitt of Asheville; son, John Leonard Farmer and wife Janet of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren: John Proffitt, Elizabeth McBroom, Marcus Farmer, Matthew Farmer, Sarah Farmer, and Abigail Farmer; four great-grandchildren; sisters: Dorothy Laidlaw of Ft. Collins, CO, and Carol Ashby-Smith of Arlington, VA; brothers: Marvin Ashby of Livermore, CO, and John Ashby of Cedar City, UT; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday at Newbridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clark Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Friday at the church.
