ASHEVILLE - EFFIE HOOPER "GRANNY" JONES, FORMERLY OF 118 STEWART STREET DIED WEDNESDAY JANUARY 17, 2001 AT MAGNOLIA HEALTH CARE CENTER. A NATIVE OF HAYWOOD COUNTY, SHE HAD RESIDED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY MOST OF HER LIFE. SHE WAS A FORMER COOK WITH VARIOUS LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND A MEMBER OF EDGEWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH. SHE WAS A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE RICHARD EDGAR AND MARY ANNA FRIZZELL HOOPER AND THE WIFE OF THE LATE ERNEST LANGLEY JONES. SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY 3 SONS, BOBBY, LENNON AND SAM JONES; BROTHER, CANDLER HOOPER AND SISTER, HAZEL MACKEY. SURVIVING ARE HER SONS, LEROY JONES AND JAMES CLYDE JONES BOTH OF ASHEVILLE; SISTERS, SELMA HOWELL OF CRUSO, BETTY PLEMMONS OF CLYDE, SUE ONEAL AND ANN ONEAL BOTH OF CRUSO; 16 GRANDCHILDREN, 30 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND 4 GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2:00 P.M. FRIDAY AT ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME WITH THE REVS MIKE McINTYRE AND CHARLES SHELTON OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN THE EDGEWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS 7 TO 8:30 P.M. THURSDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME AND AT OTHER TIMES THE FAMILY WILL BE AT THE HOME OF PAULINE JONES, 10 HOLCOMBE ROAD, CANDLER.
