Edythe Capps

Asheville - Edythe Louise Quinn Capps, 84, of 27 Oakley Dogwood Drive died Friday - August 19, 2005 at her residence. A native and resident of Buncombe County for most of her life, she had resided in Oak Ridge and Kingston, TN for 11 years. She retired in 1989 from the US Postal Service as a letter carrier following 25 years of service. She was the last living charter member of Oakley Baptist Church, of which was founded in 1932, where she was a faithful member of the Family Homemakers Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Oakley High School. She was a daughter of the late William Walter and Luna Elizabeth Butler Quinn and the wife of the late Wakefield Coatland Buzz Capps, Jr. who died in 1988. She was also preceded in death by brothers; Roy, Arthur, Clyne and R.J. and sisters; Viola, Yvonne and Bobbie. Surviving are her sons, Terry Capps and wife Robbie of Fairview, Jackie Capps and wife Kay of Statesville and Tim Capps of the home; daughter, Susan Capps Duckett and husband Frank of Fairview; grandchildren, Lisa Capps Thompson and husband Randall of Statesville, Brian Capps of Statesville and Elizabeth Duckett of Fairview; great grandchildren, Rex and Kelsi Thompson of Statesville; sisters, Jean Metcalf of Asheville and Naomi Schering of Canton, OH and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Oakley Baptist Church with the Revs. Tom Pierce and Lester Crayton officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Brian Capps, Randall Thompson, Mike Childers, Mike VanFossen, Bill Parker, David Beachboard, Henry Mitchell and Phil Eller. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clyde O. Capps, Jr., Randy Quinn, Nicky Quinn, Jay Beachboard and Robbie Schering. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
