Edward Roy Metcalf

Candler - Edward Roy Metcalf, 82, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Haywood House. A native of Yancey County he resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He was a son of the late Lark Jhue Metcalf and Nina Lanette Abernathy Metcalf. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Paul, Larry, and Tommy Metcalf; and sister, Edith Metcalf. Surviving are his sisters: Bonnie Reese of Fairview, Ruby Arrington of Candler, Robbie Banks of Candler, and Carolyn Mease and husband Gene of Candler; brothers: Robert Metcalf of Waynesville, Rev. Bennie Metcalf and wife Doris of Lancaster, SC, and Charlie Metcalf and wife Billie of Rockford, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 PM Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Bobby Winebarger, and Rev. Bennie Metcalf officiating.
